Hey, glad you’re here.
My name is Kathy, and you’re about to read a little about why Kanto exists.
I was born in the Philippines but pretty much grew up in Western Australia — two places that shaped who I am, how I cook, and how I connect with people. No matter where life took me, one thing always stayed close to my heart: Filipino street food.
The smell of sizzling skewers on the street corner, the sound of laughter around late-night food stalls, the simple meals packed with bold flavour, spice, comfort, and soul — that’s the feeling I grew up loving. Filipino food isn’t just food to me. It’s family, culture, memories, and home.
Cooking has always been my way of bringing people together. I love seeing people take that first bite, smile, and experience something new. That feeling inspired a dream I carried for years: to one day own my own food truck and share the flavours of the Philippines with people all across Australia.
And that’s how Kanto was born.
“Kanto” in Tagalog means corner — a simple place where people gather, share stories, enjoy good food, and feel connected.Growing up, the corner streets in the Philippines were always full of life, flavour, laughter, and community. I wanted Kanto to bring that same feeling here to Australia: warm, welcoming, full of flavour, and full of heart.
Every dish we serve is inspired by the food I grew up with — simple street food made with love, bold spices, fresh ingredients, and a whole lot of passion. This isn’t just a business to me. It’s a piece of my story, my culture, and my dream brought to life.
To everyone who has supported us from day one — family, friends, loyal customers, and every single person who stopped by our truck — thank you. Your support means more than words can say. Because of you, this dream became reality.
I feel incredibly blessed to do what I love every day: cook amazing food, meet amazing people, and share a little taste of the Philippines with Australia.
